Overview

Now is an exciting time to be part of Delta’s Reservations Technology and Innovation team as we redefine customer and employee experiences by setting new technology standards for thousands of Reservations and Care employees.

Delta is seeking a Product Owner Specialist to support product development and improvements in primary Sales and Service digital platforms for Reservations specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to Analysts in reviewing, communicating, and translating business needs for both technical and non-technical audiences and stakeholders.
  • Direct the work of squad/pods within Information Technology to prioritize the sprint backlog while balancing requirements of business stakeholders.
  • Work directly with internal and external design resources to create UX/UI experiences supporting new product functionality for informational and transactional customer needs.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, and stakeholders to refine features and stories and accept completed stories based on predefined criteria.
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners across the organization to align cross-squad efforts and maintain coherence in product development.
  • Translate product development goals into requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria.
  • Attend regular Information Technology team ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews/demos, and retrospectives.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to increase revenue, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular status reports to key stakeholders, sponsors, project managers, and others involved in the project.
  • Play an integral role in engagement, communication, change management, feedback loops, and overall leadership visibility across the system.
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans that create a safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety and wellbeing.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of writing user stories and ensure they clearly convey required functionality to IT development teams.
  • Actively participate in all squad ceremonies, including sprint demos, planning, and retrospectives.
  • Provide continuous feedback during sprint demos and lead discussions to ensure effective iterations of product features.
  • Maintain open communication with stakeholders to review product progress and outcomes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and Product Managers to contribute to product vision and strategy through data-backed ideation and iterative solutioning.
  • Champion agile methodologies within the squad, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Utilize tools such as Agility and Aha! for effective project management and maintain data hygiene to track progress accurately.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Agile Product Management training and experience.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in a dynamic agile environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in written and oral communication with the ability to produce concise and relevant documents and presentations.
  • Curious mindset with willingness to ask “why” until root causes of use cases are identified.
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in present position.
  • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of agile practices and principles, with Agile methodology certification preferred.
  • Experience with internal and external-facing channels.
  • Experience with digital.ai (Agility/VersionOne) or Jira.
  • Background in Aviation.
  • Reservations experience/ticketing experience.
