Target is seeking a Senior Operations Manager – Regional Distribution Center to lead distribution center operations with a strong focus on safety, operational excellence, continuous improvement, team development, and strategic execution. Position Overview
The Senior Operations Manager leads distribution center operations by driving safety, process improvement, productivity, quality, and team performance. The role partners with operational leaders, develops high-performing teams, manages resources, and supports continuous improvement initiatives across distribution center operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Lead distribution center operations with a focus on safety, service, quality, accuracy, and productivity.
- Guide operational leaders to achieve established performance standards.
- Plan and prioritize team resources to meet operational objectives.
- Support operational execution in response to changing business needs.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote a safety-first culture through awareness, training, and accountability.
- Utilize performance metrics, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and GEMBA walks to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support innovation, testing, learning, and calculated risk-taking.
- Drive process improvement initiatives across distribution center operations.
People Leadership
- Build strong relationships with team members and operational leaders.
- Coach, motivate, and develop individuals and teams.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, accountability, and regular performance feedback.
- Spend time on the operations floor observing, interacting, and supporting team members.
Communication & Execution
- Communicate operational priorities and strategic objectives effectively.
- Support planning and execution of operational activities.
- Present the broader operational vision while ensuring daily execution.
- Adapt responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, Technology, Operations, or a related business field; or a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in manufacturing, production, or distribution environments with applicable management or supervisory experience; or eighteen (18) to thirty-six (36) months of experience as an Operations Manager.
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.
- Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and terminations.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and varying business schedules.
- Ability to access all areas of the distribution center, including mezzanine platforms and conveyor systems.
- Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, and operational systems.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position located at the Regional Distribution Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The role requires daily interaction with operations teams throughout the distribution center and flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.
