Position Overview
The Data Analytics Analyst collaborates with account teams and contracting to identify and isolate variances resulting from overpayment and underpayment practices while incorporating findings into actual-to-expected results. The position assists in developing timely, innovative, and objective analysis that supports fact-based solutions for strategic business issues and provides customer service to both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Assist in the development and utilization of innovative data visualization strategies to ensure data is presented in meaningful and interpretive formats for all audience levels.
- Assist in developing and implementing innovative analytical and statistical methodologies and supporting tools for evaluating company processes, business problems, and product or service ROI.
- Prepare standard and ad hoc management reports and presentations for projects.
- Utilize query-based tools to create and execute queries for data mining, analytics, and ad hoc projects.
Business Analysis
- Collaborate with account teams and contracting to identify and isolate variances resulting from overpayment and underpayment practices and factor findings into actual-to-expected results.
- Assist in developing timely, innovative, and objective analysis that leads to fact-based solutions for strategic business issues.
- Identify, formulate, and drive problem definition and hypothesis formulation related to the business environment.
- Synthesize externally syndicated data with internal experience.
Data Integrity & Process Improvement
- Assist in developing and maintaining automated processes to identify data and process integrity issues.
- Provide leadership with detailed recommendations for issue resolution.
- Identify both upstream and downstream impacts of identified issues and communicate with affected stakeholders.
Compliance & Operations
- Perform tasks identified in the compliance monitoring program, including evaluation of definitions, price increase maintenance, and network identification.
- Provide customer service to internal and external customers while meeting quality standards and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Law, Contract Development, and Contract Operations teams.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree OR High School Diploma/GED and at least three (3) years of experience in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Business, Actuarial Science, or Computer Science.
- Experience collaborating with internal and external resources to assist in developing strategies and project plans that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
- Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal and external stakeholders within a matrix organization while ensuring quality standards for service.
- Experience developing ways to accomplish goals with little or no supervision and determining when issue escalation is necessary.
- Experience using time management skills, including prioritizing, organizing, tracking project details, and meeting deadlines across multiple projects.
- Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues while recommending and implementing effective solutions.
- Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, and exceptions that drive business improvements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including functions, pivot tables, page formatting, and worksheet management.
- Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint skills, including picture styles, animation customization, and automatic slide timings.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including macros, developer tools, mail merge, comments, and table formatting.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% for business purposes, both within and outside the state.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- Knowledge of advanced programming languages such as SAS, SQL, and C++.
- Experience with system administration tools including PROS, Vendavo, Vistaar, Salesforce.com, SharePoint, and Wikis.
- Experience using business intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, and PROS.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, and training staff.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Benefit Manager, Benefit Consultancy, or Managed Care organizations.
- Experience working with pharmacy data in retail pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Benefit Manager, benefit consultancy, or managed care environments.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry pricing.
- Experience with project management, including planning, organizing, and managing resources.
- Knowledge of systems such as Remedy and GIS.
- Experience with data extraction, data mining, data acquisition, data profiling, and data warehouse management.
- Experience working in a data warehouse, business intelligence, decision support systems, or information technology environment.
- Knowledge of statistical concepts and data mining techniques.

Benefits & Rewards
The salary range for this position is USD $63,100 to $101,200 annually. Actual compensation will depend on geography, education, experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
