General Motors of Canada is hiring a Maintenance Group Leader to join its Oshawa Assembly/OEM facility. This leadership position is responsible for supervising maintenance operations, leading skilled trades teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring operational excellence in one of Canada’s leading automotive manufacturing facilities.

Position Overview
The Maintenance Group Leader provides frontline leadership for plant maintenance operations within the General Assembly Department at the Oshawa Assembly/OEM facility.
This position oversees skilled trades employees, including Electricians and Industrial Maintenance Mechanics, while ensuring safe work practices, maximizing equipment availability, supporting manufacturing throughput, and achieving business objectives related to safety, quality, cost, responsiveness, people, and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership
- Supervise Electricians, Industrial Maintenance Mechanics, and other skilled trades personnel.
- Provide leadership and direction to maintenance teams in achieving business objectives.
- Coordinate maintenance operations to support uninterrupted manufacturing activities.
- Lead maintenance activities during equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
Operational Management
- Develop and monitor business plans focused on safety, quality, responsiveness, cost, people, and environmental objectives.
- Manage workforce utilization to maintain production throughput and cost targets.
- Coordinate maintenance, tooling, and engineering schedules within assigned areas.
- Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance downtime activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Support ongoing production throughput initiatives.
- Drive Maximo Preventive Maintenance (PM) completion.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
- Apply Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles across maintenance operations.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to General Motors safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure safe working practices throughout maintenance operations.
- Support a culture of incident prevention and operational excellence.
People Leadership
- Motivate, coach, train, and develop maintenance employees.
- Manage employee productivity and performance.
- Administer labour relations in collaboration with UNIFOR representatives.
- Work closely with plant leadership across multiple departments.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree, College Diploma, or Trade Certificate in a technical field.
- Previous maintenance supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to motivate employees in a structured manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, extended hours, and weekends as required.

Compensation
Salary Range: CAD $76,100 – $114,300 annually
Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other factors relevant to the position.

Work Arrangement
This is a fully onsite position. The successful candidate is expected to report to the Oshawa, Ontario facility on a full-time basis.
