About the Digital Experience Design Team

The Digital Experience Design team is focused on integrating Generative AI throughout JPMorganChase to improve employee productivity and transform internal applications. The team develops intelligent, user-centric digital experiences by combining modern front-end technologies, machine learning capabilities, and enterprise-scale software engineering practices.

As a Lead UI Engineer, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and AI specialists to deliver highly scalable React applications that leverage the latest advances in artificial intelligence.

Position Overview

The Lead UI Engineer will lead the development of sophisticated AI-enhanced front-end applications, drive engineering best practices, mentor development teams, and contribute to technical strategy across multiple enterprise platforms.

This position requires deep expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, modern UI architecture, accessibility, performance optimization, and agile software development.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Engineering

• Lead the development of sophisticated AI-powered user interfaces for enterprise-scale internal applications.
• Design and implement modern React applications with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Build reusable, efficient, and high-quality front-end components.
• Develop new features while continuously improving application reliability and accessibility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with product managers, UX designers, backend engineers, and AI teams to deliver innovative digital experiences.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Collaborate across agile teams to deliver customer-focused applications.

Code Quality & Engineering Excellence

• Own and maintain the application codebase.
• Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and testable React code.
• Conduct peer code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
• Develop unit tests and ensure application quality through continuous testing.
• Troubleshoot issues and optimize application performance.
• Implement accessibility standards across user interfaces.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Mentor junior software engineers.
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance across engineering teams.
• Support engineering excellence through coaching and best practices.

Stakeholder Communication

• Gather technical and business requirements.
• Provide project updates to stakeholders.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Stay current with emerging front-end frameworks, AI technologies, and software engineering trends.
• Drive continuous improvement across development processes and engineering standards.
• Support the adoption of innovative AI-powered user experiences.

Required Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts.
• Minimum five (5) years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and ES6+.
• Advanced expertise in React with experience building and maintaining complex enterprise applications.
• Strong background in modern web application development.
• Experience with responsive web design and front-end performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of REST APIs and asynchronous data flows.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Experience writing unit tests.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong customer-focused mindset.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and web accessibility best practices.

• Full-stack JavaScript development experience.
• Experience using Express.js for API development.
• Hands-on experience with design systems and reusable component libraries.

Compensation

Base Salary: USD $152,000 – $215,000 annually

Compensation is determined based on the role, location, experience, technical expertise, and overall qualifications.

Eligible employees may also receive discretionary incentive compensation, commission-based compensation (where applicable), cash awards, and/or equity-based compensation.
